“What I didn’t realize was that wanting to test desire is nothing more than a ruse to get what we want without admitting that we want it.”

Call Me By Your Name is one of those books which are so subtle yet so passionate that you are likely to forget yourself in it. In his debut novel, the writer brings forth the story of 17 year old Elio and his growing feelings for Oliver, a university graduate and a summer guest of Elio’s father.
“Perhaps we were friends first and lovers second. But then perhaps this is what lovers are.”
A rhythmic tale, from the POV of Elio, which deals with fantasies, thoughts, worries and fears of young love. What started as a simple crush transforms into something intense and hits you like a wave and then again pulls into the ocean of emotions.
“But to feel nothing so as not to feel anything – what a waste!”
Call Me By Your Name is a coming of age tale of exploring sexuality. Elio who has been heterosexual up until now starts questioning his preferences after Oliver’s arrival. It is so remarkable how Oliver’s lazy “later” and “O.K.” can cause so much havoc in Elio’s world. The book deals with the dilemma of adolescent mind.
“I’m not wise at all. I told you, I know nothing. I know books, and I know how to string words together—it doesn’t mean I know how to speak about the things that matter most to me.”
Call Me By Your Name is the perfect blend of sudden and powerful love. The book can consume you. I feel so stupid for reading it restlessly. This is a book that you don’t just read but you feel. It makes you feel things that can’t be described through words. And let me tell you it feels so good to get a book that you’ll never forget, Your forever book!
With love,
A
